This year I set out on my second Coachella Weekend One. Now, it’s been three years since I first ventured out into the weird and crazy place that is Indio and I’ve got to say… alot has changed since then. For one, I was way more prepared. I ended up at Urgent Care after my first day of my first Coachella ever, so this year I packed all the inhaler and allergy meds known to man to survive the weekend worry-free. I also spared myself a weekend of broken feet by rocking a combo of Teva Flatforms (major key if you’re short like me), Hurricane XLT 2s and Adidas Deerupts. Despite being on my feet all day long I left back to LA with no pain AND best of all, I washed off all the dust from my Tevas within minutes. Reason number 54968867 why I live in Tevas in the hot weather.
A weekend is not much time to cram and take in all that Palm Springs/Indio has to offer. I spent the majority of my weekend at the festival but did venture out to some dope activations like the Nike Women 270 Suite at Hotel Revolve, the Fenty x Puma Wet Pool Party, and the Neon Carnival. I even ended up at the Moorten Botanical Garden before heading home which is a total plant mami heaven and you should definitely pay it a visit on your next trip to Palm Springs. Now, no matter how much you try to schedule watching all your favorite artists at Coachella sometimes things just don’t end up your way. Some of my favorites of the weekend were Kali Uchis, Miguel, Cardi B, SZA, Vince Staples and Tyler the Creator. But, let’s be real here, we all know why I was really there. I could not miss my girl Bey (friendly reminder that this is never pronounced BAY) on the main stage.
Beychella was everything and more. Beychella singlehandedly snatched my edges, increased my credit score and cleared my skin. Beychella was just beyond. For someone who has been going to see Beyonce live since Destiny’s Child it was just so amazing to not only see how far she’s come but to see her championing black women on one of the biggest stages possible. Clearly I’m still not over it and if you want to see just what I thought about the performance in the moment checkout my Beychella highlighted story on Instagram.
Of course since I am a die hard Beyonce fan I had to break out the Ivy Park on Day 2, because duh. Scroll through the photos above for looks and a glimpse of my Weekend One.
