“It’s a journey, not a destination.”
Being fit and staying fit is just one of those things I wish I cracked the code to but have not. Growing up I danced from middle school to college, so working out/fitness was never something I really had to think about. Now that I’m an adult and have not danced in years, I’m always looking for methods to keep myself motivated and interested. Thanks to Nike I’ve caught my stride, literally, and have gotten back into running. Between running and group classes, I’ve found a few things that work for me. Scroll down to see what they are.
Blacklist LA I’ve fallen in love with running thanks to Blacklist. Blacklist LA is essentially a running club that orchestrates group runs all across the city. Each weekday run has a different theme and runners of all paces can follow along. I’ve literally never enjoyed running as much as I have with Blacklist. If you live in LA and are looking for motivation to get out and start running, join a Monday night art run and I’m sure you will want to keep coming back for more.
Y7 Yoga Any yoga studio that dedicates a class to Beyonce’s Lemonade is clearly one worth visiting. Y7 is the OG Hip-hop hot yoga class. The classes are an hour long in an infrared heated dimly lit classroom. It’s serene, tranquil and challenging. It’s my pick for a relaxing yet tough weekend workout. You always come out of there feeling better than when you came in.
RiseNation RiseNation is my ultimate choice for a full body workout. The classes are only 30 minutes and you truly work everything. In this class workout everyone has their own climber and steps in synch to a music-guided class. All you need is 30 minutes – trust and believe – that’s why RiseNation is always my go-to.
Air Aerial Fitness If you’re into gymnastics, hanging upside down and unique workouts this place is for you. While it may look all fun and games, aerial fitness is hard work. Whether it’s using upper body strength to help lift yourself in the air or twisting around in different formations, there’s definitely a little difficulty to it. I highly recommend a class or two or three if you’re looking for a fun way to get fit that won’t have you looking at the clock.
Last but not least, this matching high waisted fit by Wear it to Heart is one of my favorite workout outfits I own. You can never go wrong with high waisted workout leggings and the high neck sports bra feels more like a shirt then it does a bra.
