In case you haven’t already heard… ya girl is officially a Lids Ambassador! This amazing opportunity has inspired me to kick off a series called #EveKnowsBest where I drop some knowledge that will hopefully help you guys out. Often times when I get opportunities people will ask me: how did you do xyz? Well, first and foremost there are two ways to ask that question. Always make sure you’re coming out on the polite side of the spectrum. Now, back to the question at hand. How do I get brand partnerships, collaborations, etc? I focus on my content, tag the brands I want to take notice in my photos, and wait for it… let it happen organically. That’s really all.
Now, as simple as that sounds, you definitely need a foundation before getting to that point. Are you looking to be known for beauty, streetwear, sneakers, all the above? Then post about that. All the time. Being consistent and having a story will help you build the notoriety you want in your area of interest. This is definitely the most important part of all of this. Yes you can be a beauty blogger and still get non-beauty opportunities of course, but brands look for authentic storytellers in different categories. Define what your brand is and build for it. Tell your unique story.
In this case with Lids, they found me and approached me about the opportunity. This usually happens to be the case for 90% of the opportunities I receive. Sure there are little things you can do here and there to make your intentions clear, but as a general rule of thumb, you should always pursue the brands you want to work with in an organic and natural way. Doing this has led me to opportunities with not only Lids, but Uniqlo, Finish Line, Nike, Adidas, Foot Locker, Coach, Journeys, Tobi etc. When your primary focus is authentic content and your brand not only will the brands you want notice, but others you didn’t even imagine working with will as well. With that said get out there, make your intentions clear, create, and watch the opportunities pile up.
A special shoutout to the home team (s/o to the wiz kids) and to my bff @dianakmir for not only letting me hop on her back to get these photos, but for cracking me up the whole way through. 💖
